Brain Activities

brain_activities.gifFeeling a little mentally slow lately? Forgetting where in the world you have placed your eyeglasses (even though it is only on your forehead)? Or how about taking ten seconds before you even answered three times eight? If you’ve been into these kinds of situations before, you are not alone. Don’t be fully scared though. Apart from the fact that you might already be getting old, these might just be some hints that your brain needs some form of mental workout.

Like what a majority of our physical body parts need, our brains definitely need some form of exercise. The primary reason behind this is that if without it, it will just shrink (not literally, of course) towards gradual futility, pretty much like a flabby muscle that didn’t experience being conditioned or exercised. Of course, we won’t let that happen to our very own brains (unless you intentionally want to). Many consider this particular organ as their ticket to success, the repository of great knowledge and their most valuable possession that no one can seemingly take away. However, unless we fully realize the importance of what our brains can really contribute to our daily lives, then we will just keep on neglecting this very special body organ. It is for this very reason that many people from all over the world pushed this advocacy of exercising the brain. Many individuals from all walks of life converged just to create or devise some great mental exercises to give one’s brain a total workout. But the workout we are referring to here is not really that punishing to the organ, for activities to sharpen the brain even further can also offer lots of fun. Brain exercises can also be done in several ways, and the range of activities that can make our brains more acute are really boundless. It is because of this that every individual can choose at his or her own comfort of which type of brain exercise suits him or her best.  Here is some list of the activities that you can do (while still having fun) to give your brains a very competitive and sharp edge day by day:

   Learn a new language.

Nothing could ever burn your brain cells more than learning a new language. Are you an American? Why not try learning German? If you are a European, why don’t you try learning an Asian language? It seems that the early stages of learning the basics of a new language might prove to be just too difficult and eventually discourage someone from moving on. However, I must say that only those who are determined will reap its eventual benefits. In the end, it is not only your brains that will get exercised but your tongue and social skills as well. And wouldn’t it also be fulfilling to know that you could speak a certain foreign language fluently?

 Travel

Our brains definitely need some exposure to many good things, and the best way to do that is to expose oneself to many places. And if we mean exposing oneself to many places, we can also imply that some form of cultural exchange or communication can also happen between you as a tourist and the culture and the people that you will be clashing or meeting with along the way.

 Play mental games

Do you love playing chess or scrabble? How about cracking Sudoku or crossword puzzles? If you are the type of person who loves doing these activities, then your brain must be really sharp by now. But if you are into these kinds of stuff, then don’t fret for there are surely many other ways where you can use your mental capabilities while playing or having fun at the same time. These are just three of the many other possible ways for one to fully utilize one’s mental abilities. The only thing that one should remember though is that one should learn to love what he or she is doing especially on activities that require mental exercises. This way, the end goal of sharpening one’s brain will be accomplished much faster.
